As warm weather approaches, you and your family may be feeling cabin fever more than ever this year. While there are plenty of fun attractions and festivals in and around Miami County, early spring weather doesn’t always agree with our plans.
It’s never fun being cooped up, especially on vacation. But, with a little bit of planning, you can still have a great time – even indoors.
Whether you are planning your next staycation or visiting us from afar, we have plenty of indoor activities for everyone, including children and adults.
Indoor Family Activities
Brukner Nature Center
No matter what time of year you visit, you’ll be sure to enjoy the serenity of Brukner Nature Center in Troy.
A must-see for all nature enthusiasts, the Brukner Nature Center is surrounded by 165 acres of beautiful, tranquil settings.
If the weather cooperates, bond with nature with a hike through the rolling hills, deep ravines, and thick pine forests of the area, or enjoy a quiet birdwatching adventure in the Tree-Top Bird Vista lookout.
Brukner is renowned for nurturing and releasing sick or injured native Ohio wildlife. Those who cannot be released back into the wild are given new homes as “Wildlife Ambassadors” at the Center.
The nature center is open seven days a week so that you can enjoy time indoors or outdoors.
WACO Air Museum
Calling all aircraft buffs! The Waco Air Museum invites adults and kids to experience new heights in Miami County.
The museum features a number of different indoor exhibits, including glider information displays, aircraft hangers, glider noses, WACO simulator, and more.
If the weather is nice, a biplane ride on Sunny would be the ultimate experience for those who enjoy a bird’s eye view!

Mayflower Arts Center
The Mayflower Arts Center provides an environment that enlightens and inspires a deeper appreciation of arts in all who visit.
The Center also provides Mayflower Painting Parties as a fun and relaxing way to tap into your creative spirit and create memories with your family. Events are hosted for both kids and adults, and even private parties can be booked.
The Mayflower Arts Center also hosts gallery and exhibit spaces, classes and workshops, films, art lectures, performances, and concerts year-round, so be sure to check the website before planning your trip.
Overfield Tavern Museum
More than 200 years ago, Benjamin Overfield welcomed pioneer settlers to his tavern to provide respite from the journey.
The tavern was once the center of the town where travelers might find lodging and food, where residents would gather, and even hold government meetings.
Now, the Overfield Tavern Museum has been restored to reflect life in the early 1800s. It contains a rare collection of early 19th-century furniture, household items, and artifacts. Each room has been redecorated and restored to reflect the original use.
Tours are limited to Saturday and Sunday beginning in April through October. Admission is $1. This activity would be best suited for history buffs children and adults alike.
The Bicycle Museum of America
Learn all about how the bicycle shaped the American landscape! If you’ve ever taken a bike tour around Miami County, this would be an interesting exhibit to add to your list.
As one of the largest and most comprehensive exhibits, The Bicycle Museum of America features three floors of bicycle displays from the late 1800s to the modern-day.
Located in New Bremen, Ohio, this museum is recognized as a hidden gem in the state of Ohio.
Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Bradford Ohio Railroad Museum celebrates the heritage and impact the railroad had on the community.
For all railroad enthusiasts, travel through time and explore local railroad history through old photos, interactive displays, and other memorabilia.
Through three levels of procured exhibits, visitors will learn about all things railroad, including The Railway YMCA, Role of the Railroad in War, Dining Car Exhibit, The Telegraph, and The BF Tower.
