Here’s your guide to a day packed with charm, color, and community spirit with the best things to do in West Milton, Ohio.

The Sugarland Social

West Milton has just gotten a whole lot sweeter thanks to its newest downtown hotspot, The Sugarland Social. Formerly LaLa Sugarland, this reimagined space is now a family-friendly ice cream and treat shop. It’s more than just a dessert, stop, it’s a vibrant gathering place. The Sugarland Social serves hand-scooped ice cream in homemade waffle cones or bowls, along with soft serve, shakes, and pre-packaged sweets, including sugar-free options. They support local by featuring Mar-chele Pretzels and Lee’s Old Fashioned Root Beer and Bottled Sodas. The atmosphere is bright and inviting, with pastel decor, dessert-themed art, plenty of places to sit and get social, and a toddler play corner inside. Outside, you’ll find seating and games like cornhole, giant Tic Tac Toe, Connect 4, and Tetris to encourage guests to stay and play.

Pro Tip: Bring the whole crew, grab a table, and soak up the sweet vibes. This is the kind of spot that makes West Milton feel like home.

Tate’s Tasty Treats

A beloved local favorite, Tates Tasty Treats is more than just an ice cream shop; it’s a community staple with a sweet history. Formerly Jim’s Dairy Bar for 52 years, Tates is now in its third season under the name inspired by owner Heidi’s husband, whose childhood nickname was Tator. Heidi, who also teaches business in Milton, bought the shop on a joke-ish whim, and now runs the shop with a fantastic team of friendly local teens who bring energy and hometown pride to every shift. Open from April through September, Tates serves up Perry’s Ice Cream in fun and flavorful ways, think blueberry Dole Whip, epic ice cream nachos, creamy milkshakes, and over-the-top sundaes, including a new monthly Bulldog Shake that keeps fans coming back. Not to be missed are their house-made sauces like butter pecan and peanut butter, and the signature Tates Sauce that takes the Tates Tasty Burger to the next level. They even serve savory bites, such as the grilled chicken wrap, a local favorite.

Pro Tip: Go for the ice cream, but stay for the flavor-packed menu and the feel-good vibes this hometown gem always delivers.
