Earth Day 2026 is coming up quick in Miami County! With the holiday falling on a Wednesday, the best time to celebrate and get out in nature may just be the weekend before. Here’s some Earth Day events happening in Miami County.
Brukner Nature Center’s 5k Run Wild For Wildlife- April 18th 9am

If you enjoy running or hiking on woodland trails, you’ll love BNC’s 5K Run Wild for Wildlife! This 5K run/walk starts and finishes at the parking lot and winds through the woods along wildflower studded trails. Steep hills and rough terrain is involved but you can handle it! Pre-registration is required for this event and entry fees include an eco-friendly bag of goodies, plus the opportunity to add on a cool race T-shirt! All proceeds from this fundraiser support our wildlife program.
Hug The Earth Festival- April 18th 12pm

Whether you come to sing along with your favorite Banana Slug String Band song or try out one of the many activities, you are sure to have a good time at teh Hug the Earth Festival! The fun begins at Lost Creek Reserve at noon with the Banana Slug String Band. Sing and dance along as they perform songs like “Dirt Made My Lunch” and “Water Cycle Boogie.” Also beginning at noon, outdoor adventures for the whole family such as high adventure rock climbing wall, zip lines, tree climbing, enjoy caterpillar train rides, an animal safari, rock and fossil Digs, and much more! Embark on the Superhero Trail and meet some of your favorite movie superheroes and the animals that inspired their superpowers such as bats, spiders, turtles, fish!
*Banana Slug String Band performs at 12:15 and 3 p.m.

Looking to avoid the crowds and have more one on one time with nature? The Miami County Park District has a great selection on parks for you to visit. Hike to see beautiful waterfalls at Charleston Falls and Greenville Falls, check out the suspension bridge connecting Maple Ridge and Stillwater Prairie Reserve, any park you choose is a great place to celebrate Earth Day. You really can’t go wrong!
