Buffalo Jack’s Restaurant & Tavern

937-473-2524 Website

137 S. High Street   |  Covington, Ohio

Owned and operated by Jack Maier, a mild-mannered gentleman of German ancestry, the restaurant has an interesting story.

Playing poker one night with some friends, Jack mentioned that if a certain old building on the main drag of Covington went up for sale, he would buy it and turn it back into a bar and restaurant – the original purpose of the building. The next day the property was up for auction by the Sheriff. One of the poker buddies called Jack with the news, so he went and bought it. Built in 1886 as a tavern, the original cherry back bar was still intact. After almost 18 months of restoration, Buffalo Jack’s opened for business in November 1983.

The décor is southwestern and Native American with an impressive collection of mounted animals. Bring your camera and take a picture of your party with the stuffed buffalo that is waiting by the front door to greet you as you enter.

For a truly unique dining experience, you can’t beat Buffalo Jack’s.
