History of Transportation in Piqua

The Great Flood of 1913 had a huge effect on the landscape of Piqua and a 1913 Flood Driving Tour booklet available from the Piqua Public Library (in the Fort Piqua Plaza) will give you an overview of the devastation caused by the flood as well as a sense of the lives that were forever impacted by the floods.  The tour starts at the Lock 9 Park, at the intersection of Spring and Water Streets, and makes its way throughout the Piqua community.

Before starting your driving tour be sure to take time to read about Piqua’s rich transportation history on the History Wall on the west side of Lock 9 Park.  The permanent etched historical plaques tell the story of the history of transportation in Piqua.
