Fruit Basket
2510 E. Loy Road | Piqua, Ohio
The family selected this pattern because they own a small business called “Baskets-n-Such” and some family members collect Longaberger Baskets. The current owners purchased the property in 1979 from the Hirsch family, who used it for livestock, hay, straw and machinery storage. In 1982 they added a fruit orchard.
The original part of the barn, which was probably built in early 1900s, was 30 ft. x 50 ft. and is constructed of hand hewn logs, and the frame is pinned together with wooden pins, mostly original materials. Two lean-to’s and two granaries were added to the original structure in 1980. It also has straw and hay mow. The barn has been used for numerous 4-H Halloween parties.
