Carpenter’s Wheel
9977 Burr Oak-New Hope Road | Fletcher, Ohio
This barn is a lovely red barn with green metal roof and two white cupolas, and a weathervane as well. It is constructed of wood vertical siding on a stone foundation. The home on the property was originally the New Hope School House, a one room school house built in 1860, and the barn was built sometime after that. The school closed in 1917 when the Lena Conover consolidated. At that time, the school was turned into a one and half story home. The current owners converted one of the out buildings to a small school house complete with an antique school desk and bell tower for their grandchildren.
From I-75 East of Piqua, take US. Rt. 36 east approximately 7.5 miles (you will go through Fletcher), turn left (north) on Burr Oak-New Hope Rd. Continue past Snyder Road; the property is at the intersection of E. Snodgrass Rd. and Burr Oak-New Hope Rd…..the barn actually faces Snodgrass Rd. (Approximately 2 miles North of Rt. 36, 1 mile south of Shelby County line).
