Bear’s Mill

937-548-5112 Website

6450 Arcanum-Bears Mill Rd.   |  Greenville, Ohio

Back to the Grindstone.

See firsthand just what that old expression meant.   Located in just east of Greenville, Ohio, the flours & meals made here were produced by huge circular gristmill stones that ground the grain to the proper size. Hard work in those days!   Bear’s Mill, built in 1849, one of the last operating water-powered mills in Ohio today, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places & is one of Darke County’s most popular landmarks. Treat yourself to the retail shop, featuring stone ground flours & meals, gourmet foods, gift items & homemade pottery. Walking tours take you through the Mill’s three upper floors to see all the milling machinery which still works!

Guided Tours

Organized, guided tours for groups are offered but must be scheduled in advance. If you choose this option, the Mill will be open according to your schedule regardless of our normal business hours. A tour guide will lead your group through the Mill and grounds, explaining the history of the Mill and how it works. Gourmet coffee and a homemade cookie will be served. Each visitor will take home a sample bag of a Bear’s Mill product with a recipe.
