SUMMARY:Miami County America-250 Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Miami County will host a Community Reading of the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday\, July 8\, 2026\, on the south side of the Miami County Courthouse. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks and live music\, followed by a program featuring community and state leaders\, patriotic music\, and ceremonial presentations. \nThe evening’s highlight will be the public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 6:00 p.m.\, as it was read in 1776\, led by members of the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution in period-accurate costumes. \nAdditional activities will include a symbolic courthouse bell ringing called “The Thirteen Strikes\,” a musket demonstration\, and opportunities for attendees to participate in a Miami County history display ribbon cutting and courthouse tours following the program. Live music on the courthouse plaza will continue throughout the evening until approximately 8:00 p.m. \nAdmission: Free and open to the public\nSeating: Limited seating will be available; attendees are encouraged to bring chairs \nResidents are encouraged to attend and take part in this community-wide event.
