SUMMARY:Kathy Slack Troy Summer Skating Competition
DESCRIPTION:Come see these young athletes compete! This single and pairs\, as well as dance competition\, is a non-qualifying competition held under the auspices of the U.S. Figure Skating organization. \nSince 1974 Troy Skating Club has hosted its annual Troy Summer Skating Competition. This competition is hosted at Hobart Arena. Troy Summer Competition brings in over 300 skaters from the Midwest and beyond each year. Troy Summer Skating Competition has events ranging from beginners to senior-level skaters\, has both IJS and Test Track events\, showcase as well as Basic Skills.\nStarting in 2018 after the loss of our dear friend and judge Kathy Slack\, who championed\, and put so much passion into this competition\, the Troy Summer Competition was renamed the “Kathy Slack Troy Summer Competition”. \n

SUMMARY:Tipp City Library Goes to the Movies: League of Our Own
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 28th\, 8:30pm League of Our Own (1992) – Join the Tipp City Public Library as we celebrate America250 by participating in Ohio Goes to the Movies – a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohio’s actors\, directors\, writers\, composers\, locations\, and topics\, shown in cities and towns across the state. Tipp City Public Library will be showing the film League of their Own (1992) Outside in Collaboration with the Downtown Tipp City Partnership. \nLeague of Our Own: as America’s stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II\, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest\, funded by publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey (Garry Marshall). Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty) spar with each other\, scout Ernie Capadino (Jon Lovitz) and grumpy has-been coach Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) on their way to fame. Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell co-star as two of the sisters’ teammates.\nPopcorn and water will be available for patrons during the movie. \nOhio Connection: This film’s Actor (Tom Hanks) has strong ties to Cleveland and Wright State University.\nThis program is funded by a grant from the Miami County Visitors & Convention Bureau.
